FYI: I love Youtube. Youtube is my best friend. So the following videos are from, you guessed it, Youtube. Enjoy!
Every time I think about Africa and it's culture I think about my favorite movie, "Coming to America." This movie is so hilarious and amazing to watch! Of course, Eddie Murphy is the main character(s) and he is a prince (whose name is Akeem) from Africa who travels to America in search of his "queen to be." His father picked a queen to be for him to marry, but Akeem wants to find his own significant other. In this video, African dancers dance with zeal and excitement before the father's pick process in. Of course, you will hear African drumming in the background with its complex rhythms.

I thought this video was pretty cool because it is very different. Who would have ever thought that you could do a Native American dance with hula hoops? I can't even hula hoop in general, so dancing really fast with these items is interesting! You can hear the consistent drumming and the chants being sung. And you have this energetic person doing a remix to the Rain Dance.

Last but not least, I have to end this blog with my favorite movie Coming to America. Why did I post this? Because it is hilarious! Notice how music is a necessity in the African culture. Enjoy!

I love your fist pick of cool stuff. I love that movie. I would hae never thought to use that for this project until now. The second video is awesome. That man in the video is so talented. I would never be able to do that if my life depended on it. I think that this part in not very realistic. I feel like something better would have happened while she walked to the throne, but this is a comedy. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the hula hoop video. I am with you Angela, I can barely hula hoop as it is and that man was dancing with what 5 hoops? That was crazy! I have never seen the movie, but the way you described it, it seems very interesting that I might rent it sometime. I really enjoyed all your videos, but the hula hoop one was definitely my favortie. :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that movie!
ReplyDeleteThe hula hoop video was amazing! I could never ever do that. I can't even hula hoop like normal. At first I thought the drumming sounds were coming from somewhere else, but then I realized the drumming sounds were coming from his dancing! That is awesome. Dr. Couch would be proud.
All three videos were great. I really enjoyed them.
Wow. I think this is officially the first time I've ever had anyone post one, much less two, videos of an Eddie Murphy movie! Makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteTwo might be a bit overkill, though. Try to vary up your videos a bit for the next round, ok?
