I am going to start off with some Latin Jazz. I love jazz music and I really love latin jazz. My favorite part in jazz music is when the musicans do solos. This drummer is Dave Weckl and he is doing a drum solo. This guy is so awesome! Look at how fast he is drumming, while keeping the tempo. I think I want to take drum lessons!

This video makes me smile really big! This is the African's Children Choir out of Uganda. Christian contemporary artist Micheal Smith let this choir close out a concert he did. Please listen to their voices. Their voices are so pure and the harmonies are pleasing to listen to. And for them to sing and dance at the same time is unbelievable! I would have passed out due to the lack of air! Also, they have their own drummers and they did a fantastic job. My favorite part is the end of the video when Micheal and the congregation strectched out their hands to pray and ask God to bless them. Very powerful.

I'm going to end this blog with a tribute to the very beautiful, Selena. She was very well known and loved in the Latin American music. Everytime I watch the movie Selena I cry because she was so young when she died. Her voice is like no other and it is very obvious that she loved music. This song and video is cute and fun to listen to. R.I.P Selena! Enjoy!

I LOVE LATIN JAZZ AS WELL!! I was in jazz band in high school. It was so much fun. I loved when the soloist got up in front of everyone and improvised. I remember our drummer did like a 10 minute long improve. The whole band was pissed off at him because he just kept going. :) All in all it was soo much fun.

I have never heard of Selena, but she looks like she's quite the popstar. The song is cathcy and fun to listen to.
I love the Latin Jazz music! It has just a different feel to it. The solo parts are my favorite! The vidoe with the drum solo I just loved. It's the hidden drummer in me.

ReplyDeleteThe jazz drummer was really impressive. I could never move that fast. I really loved the children's choir! They were so coordinated for such young ones! They were also very musically talented and adorable. I liked seeing the original video Selena did. Previously, I had only seen the song performed in the movie where JLO played her.

ReplyDeleteThe African Children's Choir is beautiful! I love that they can get exposure here in the states through performers like Michael W. Smith. Their performance crosses boundaries of culture and music from the US to Uganda and vice versa. Fantastic!
